Logistics in Nuevo Laredo
The Oradel Industrial Center is located on the U.S. Mexico border, directly across from Laredo, Texas – the largest inland port in the United States. It is 16 miles from the Colombia Bridge, 8 miles from the World Trade Bridge; 150 miles north of Monterrey, Mexico´s largest industrial city; and 968 miles north of the Port of Lazaro Cardenas, Mexico.
In the past decade, a number of developments have contributed to making the Lazaro Cardenas-Nuevo Laredo Corridor a reality. Most notably, the Mexican government has taken aggressive steps toward privatizing its infrastructure and promoting business-friendly partnerships to enhance international trade. Key among these steps have been link-ups with Hong Kong based Hutchinson Port Holdings, currently in the midst of a 20-year, $290 million program to expand the capacity of Lazaro Cardenas; and Kansas City Southern, which has implemented an advanced cargo tracing and tracking system in addition to fine-tuning Mexico´s over 2,636 miles of existing railway infrastructure. |
